It is formally a buddhist temple of the Tendai sect of the name of king lotus academy though is called Sanjusangen-do Temple so that there are 33 between pillars in the inner temple in the main temple. Rokuonji is a buddhist temple of the Rinzai sect Shokokuji Temple faction that exists in the Kyoto City Kita Ward. The temple name is connected to the law name of Ashikaga Mi. Alias Kinkakuji temple and the mountain title are Kitayama .
It was registered in World Heritage as a cultural asset of Old Town Kyoto in 1994. Shari-den Temple that is the centered building is called and "Kinkakuji temple" and the expert call "Cane" and the entire buddhist temple.
